Listen now | My 2014 Sampler was Christmas maritime music - reimagining of what Christmas music might have sounded like on a 19th century tall sailing ship.
My favorite Lee Murdock Christmas song is “The Christmas Ship” because, here in Chicago, a Christmas ship still comes into Chicago with trees to give to those who can’t afford a tree.
I didn't have that lovely song from his album/book in my candidate list only because I recognized right away that his opening song, A Maritime Christmas, and its closing reprise of it would make the perfect bookends for my sampler too.
Thanks for this refreshingly different set of Christmas music, Bill. I have several reactions to it. I'd like to say first of all that your placement of Lee Murdoch's "A Maritime Christmas" in the opening position is a fine choice. It really introduces well today's "genre."
I feel I ought to alert you next to the fact that your ordering of the six song titles has #2 and #3 switched. What I hear has those two in the other order.
My favourite of the selections today is the last one, "Eight Bells." I might have cited "The Men Who Toil," but I like the sung part much more than the spoken part.
In any case, today's set is a fascinating "change of pace."
Thanks Greg, and thanks for the feedback about songs 2 and 3 being in the wrong order. I've fixed it now in the archive/blog. I made a last-minute change to the order of the playlist and missed one of the steps needed to make it happen.

Thanks, again,
