Essay: The story of a couple of big Neolithic timepieces
I also love Orion. It is such a standout in the winter sky. Here is a poem I wrote about Orion with the quote that inspired the poem:

When great Orion strides
the open night"

CAMPING OUT
City girls
who slept in beds
under roofs
depressed
by smog
used to skies
creamy white
lit by streetlight reflections
we shook out
our sleeping bags
to check for snakes
slithered inside
stuffing day clothes
into empty cases
for pillows
lay awake
awestruck
by the starry ocean
overhead
watched Orion stride
across the sky
dreamt of warriors
come to capture
maidens' heads.
