I have to agree with Greg on both selections. I, too, am a Robeson fan, but the selection that stole my heart was Joseph and Mary. I’m also impressed by the care you take compiling your samplers.
Today, I just have to cite "Mary Had a Baby, Yes Lord" by Paul Robeson as my favourite among what you've circulated today. That is not so much due to this song's particular lyrics; it is because of my life-long admiration for everything done by Mr. Robeson. The first time I believe that I heard him sing was when I was a gradeschooler and someone on Chicago television played an excerpt from the 1936 musical "Show Boat." Robeson was singling "Old Man River," and it was so rich and resonant that my fascination with his voice began.
By the way, another favourite among the songs in today's selection is "Joseph and Mary" by Cori and David Connors.
LOVED the Irish one!
