Listen now | Selections from my 2004 Christmas Sampler – a musical Christmas stocking for which the working title was “a children’s album for grown-ups”.
Here's a P. S., Bill. When I commented earlier this morning, I meant to add about the Quartette song, that I was always bemused by the part of the lyrics when the singers claim that they, as children, used to unwrap their presents on the sly before Christmas morning and then carefully re-wrap them to place back under the tree. I can imagine that being done, but no one in my acquaintance ever told me they had done that sort of thing. Plenty did say that they had peeked in closets and found presents before they'd ever been wrapped, though. Maybe, some of your other blog readers can enlighten me as to their adventures involving early unwrapping and then re-wrapping presents.
Personally, I never prematurely opened any of my presents, but then my father always kept them at his office until Christmas Eve and then in the trunk of his car until we kids were in bed.
As far as I know, my parents did all the wrapping on Christmas Eve. I did get to see them under the tree when he roused me at about 11:00 to go to midnight mass with him.
I can't be sure what I would have done if the opportunity to have a peek had arisen, but I think that I had too many scruples to actually unwrap them (and too little confidence in my ability to re-wrap them in a way that would not have made it obvious what I had done.)
The 2004 CD, from which today's selection comes, has been a favourite of mine over the years. I like best "Sing to the Baby" among today's featured six songs. "It's Christmas" from the Quartette album gets played a lot at home, too, both from your CD and from the whole Quartette CD, which I bought back in the '90s.

Another good set - thank you. I've never heard anyone but Rolf Harris sing Six White Boomers - this version was fun!
